What to See in London in 3 Days: Complete First-Time Itinerary
London is one of those cities you could visit again and again and still discover something new. However, if it is your first trip and you only have three days, you can still see many of its highlights with a well-organised itinerary.
The key is to group attractions by area so you do not waste too much time travelling across the city.
Day 1: Westminster and Central London
Start with London's most iconic sights.
Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament
Begin your trip in Westminster, home to some of London's most famous landmarks.
Here you can see Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Westminster Bridge.
Crossing the bridge also gives you one of the most famous views of the London skyline.

London Eye
On the opposite side of the River Thames you will find the London Eye.
A ride is optional, but it is one of the most popular ways to enjoy panoramic views of the city.

St James's Park
Continue walking towards St James's Park.
It is one of the most pleasant parks in central London and a beautiful route towards Buckingham Palace.
Buckingham Palace
Continue to Buckingham Palace, one of London's most recognisable landmarks.
Even if you do not see the Changing of the Guard, the palace and surrounding area are worth visiting.
Trafalgar Square
Next, walk towards Trafalgar Square.
It is one of London's best-known squares and is also home to the National Gallery.
Covent Garden
Spend the afternoon exploring Covent Garden.
You will find shops, restaurants, street performers and its famous covered market.
Chinatown and Piccadilly Circus
Finish the day around Leicester Square, Chinatown and Piccadilly Circus.
Chinatown is a great area for dinner, while Piccadilly Circus is especially impressive at night.

Day 2: Tower Bridge, Borough Market and the City
The second day focuses on another essential part of London.
Tower of London
Start the morning at the Tower of London.
If you want to visit the interior, allow several hours. Otherwise, you can admire it from outside and continue towards Tower Bridge.
Tower Bridge
Just a short walk away is Tower Bridge, one of the city's most famous landmarks.
Cross the bridge on foot and enjoy the views over the Thames.
Borough Market
Continue towards Borough Market.
It is one of London's most popular food markets and a great place to stop for lunch.
Shakespeare's Globe
Walk along the river until you reach Shakespeare's Globe.
Even if you do not visit the inside, it is worth seeing as part of your riverside walk.
Millennium Bridge
Continue to Millennium Bridge.
From here you will have one of the best views of St Paul's Cathedral.
St Paul's Cathedral
After crossing the bridge, you will arrive at St Paul's Cathedral.
You can visit the interior or simply explore the surrounding area.
London at Sunset
End the day with a walk along the River Thames.
Seeing Tower Bridge, the City skyline and the river illuminated is a perfect way to finish your second day.
Day 3: Camden, Regent's Park and Soho
For your final day, discover a different side of London.
Camden Town
Start the morning in Camden Town.
This alternative neighbourhood is famous for its unusual shopfronts, markets, street food and vibrant atmosphere.
Regent's Canal
From Camden you can walk along Regent's Canal.
It is a peaceful route that shows you a quieter side of the city.
Regent's Park
Continue towards Regent's Park.
If the weather is good, it is a lovely place to relax before returning to central London.
Oxford Street and Regent Street
In the afternoon, head towards Oxford Street and Regent Street.
This area is perfect for shopping and is also close to Carnaby Street and Soho.
Soho
Finish your trip in Soho.
The area is full of restaurants, pubs, theatres and nightlife.
From here you can easily walk back towards Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square or Covent Garden.
What to Do If It Rains in London
Rain is always possible in London, so it is a good idea to have some indoor alternatives.
You can visit museums, explore covered markets, go shopping or enjoy one of the West End musicals.
Getting Around London
You can complete many parts of this itinerary on foot.
For longer distances, the Underground and buses are the easiest options.
Organising your itinerary by area will help you make the most of your three days.
Tips for Visiting London in 3 Days
Book the attractions you really want to visit in advance.
Wear comfortable shoes, as you will walk a lot.
Do not try to visit the inside of every attraction. Choose a few main experiences and spend the rest of your time enjoying the different neighbourhoods.
Leaving some flexibility in your schedule is also a good idea, as you may discover cafés, markets or interesting places along the way.
